the thing is, i think pete is fundamentally right: after the chaos of trump II, there will be an opportunity to rebuild things which have been broken for a long time. but doing that *well* will require a deeper analysis of what's gone wrong in our country.

I think the guy you're responding to is pointing to a real tension between what the climate purists want and Gallego's program, but also I don't care. China's example shows that if we go all-in on more of everything, we'll still end up decarbonizing on net.
