What does it mean to say that they’ve ’led the way in sucking carbon out of the air’ when they haven’t even managed to remove their own emissions, let alone anyone else’s? Climeworks has been a net emitter of CO2.

How are you defining it? Annual average, long-term average, trendline? My bet is the first 2.0 12-month average 2037ish, but long-term average passing 2.0 in the early 2040s.

Preindustrial CO2 was around 280ppm, now ~425ppm -- so 140-150ppm higher, not 75. I realize you are a climate scientist so I assume either this is a typo or miscommunication, or I am missing something very fundamental about what you are saying.

This is a good analysis, and you might add that these people are not likely to relinquish power, having consolidated it -- so they will do everything they can to avoid free, open elections going forward. (As they already do -- but with far greater influence from now on).
