Frédéric Bastiat said that “When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.”

I'd add, they also create a propaganda system that normalises their pillaging.

We should dispense with notion that Labour are a hapless bunch of fools who are tanking in the polls because they're bad at politics.

Labour work for the same people as the other main parties and are simply following the instructions, to complete the fascist takeover of Britain, they've been given.
November 13, 2025 at 7:18 AM
All fascists have is hatred, it's all they understand.

Certainly, at this point, I think we need to prepare for the fact that England will overwhelmingly succumb to the fascist madness that is gripping the rest of the Western world, and Scotland, NI and Wales will, as usual, just have to lump it.

"Centrism" conventionally is a Rightwing reactionary movement, and Reform are far right.

Apologies should I not have made that clear in my post.

We've heard IDF soldiers boast about sniping civilians for fun in Gaza and will be foreigners in their ranks who are there largely to satisfy their blood lust.

I'm never surprised these days by the brutality that humans are capable of.

COP summits are a joke and were designed from the beginning, at the behest of Big Oil, to utilise overly conservative climate sensitivity estimates, hence why we're in the undesirable position we are, barrelling "unexpectedly" down on 2C of warming, with observable warming now actually accelerating.
November 11, 2025 at 12:25 PM
The UK government has completely capitulated to extortion by the US President.

Consider, should this be the attitude of a supposedly Centrist government, the utter chaos that will be unleashed once a Rightwing Reform government takes power.

US fascists now own us.

We are a vassal state.

There's no appeasing the Right. They will always demand more.
November 10, 2025 at 12:56 PM
I think the BBC once upon a time did have some genuinely laudable aims, but, yes, I agree, core to it's mission has always been the maintenance of a certain status quo with a ruling class at the top.
November 10, 2025 at 11:56 AM
The BBC is little more than a propaganda engine for the ruling class at this point.

It grates somewhat therefore that they still expect the public to fund this sham.
November 10, 2025 at 7:35 AM
The "merciful" really need to start asserting them themselves, in whatever way necessary, per the attached quote by Kurt Vonnegut on Susan Sontag.
November 8, 2025 at 9:51 AM
Throughout history it's invariably been the most cruel, violent and generally unpleasant people who have risen to the top, be it under capitalism, feudalism or whatever.

Anarchism holds appeal because it should stop these sorts of people being able to consolidate power in the first place.
November 8, 2025 at 9:29 AM
We'll require some kind of antifascist resistance network once Reform take power and implement a fascist regime, with the UK as a vassal state of the fascist MAGA empire.

I'd personally like to see a mass antifascist, aka "Antifa", march around the UK and see how the government reacts to that.
November 7, 2025 at 9:53 AM
Nigh on all our politicians work for the ruling class of oligarchs and corporations.

They're knowingly choosing to work against the interests of the rest of us, impoverishing and enslaving us ever more.

We deserve better than this.

I hope Mamdani heralds a wind of radical socialist change.
November 6, 2025 at 11:27 AM
There are strong parallels between the Nazis' "Blood and Soil" rhetoric and their idealised ideas of bucolic living, and what Reform are saying.

Likewise, it's worth reflecting that in 1928 the Nazis had only 12 seats in the Reichstag, but by July 1932 they had 230 seats and were the largest party.
November 5, 2025 at 12:16 PM
Centrists always defend economic power, which tends to suggest that they're actually, fundamentally of the Right.
November 3, 2025 at 6:37 PM
I like this idea, which I can see it doing a lot of good in various ways.

I especially like that it embraces veganism, speaking as someone who's been vegan for almost thirty years.
November 3, 2025 at 3:22 PM
Are there any credible candidates for Labour leadership who are not completely beholden to capital or the Zionists though?
October 26, 2025 at 5:54 AM
A Left that is actually united, I agree, is our only way out of our current trajectory of unchecked fascism and becoming little more than a US vassal state.

I hope whatever Your Party turns into is able to work productively and earnestly with the Greens.
October 16, 2025 at 4:36 PM
It's General Strike time.

Capital now controls the Tories, Labour and Lib Dems, and there's no longer any effective, practical means left open to us to achieve the radical, systemic change needed in our rapidly degrading world.
October 14, 2025 at 11:11 AM
Humans aren't good at noticing gradual change, like frogs in a pot of boiling water.

Were we to time travel a British person from ten years ago to today, they would not recognise the country, for a variety of reasons, but particularly because the Overton window has shifted so far Rightwards.
October 7, 2025 at 11:09 AM
It is not hyperbole to say that the UK no longer permits free speech.

Our ruling class decided many moons ago that the UK will head in the same fascist direction as America, serving as a US vassal state, and we need to prepare now, whilst we can, for this eventuality.
October 6, 2025 at 8:43 AM
Let's hope Israel don't make an example out of any of the detainees, including Tadhg.

We are, on the other hand, dealing with genocidal fascists, so our worry regarding their wellbeing is not entirely misplaced.
October 6, 2025 at 8:36 AM
I think we need to start acknowledging more so that we're actually well into a mass extinction event at this stage, rather than talking in terms of possibly avoiding it.

And we are utterly unprepared for what this will entail.
September 28, 2025 at 6:44 AM
Human overpopulation is the greatest factor driving us toward extinction, something which never receives any critical attention in the media.

I try to lead an ethical existence, e.g. vegan for almost 30 years, but even my environmental footprint is still far too large.
