Well, yeah, that would be why the risk is the same. The problem is that statistically there's a greater risk to the other female prisoners from you than there would be from a biological woman of the same height and weight. That's not a slight against you, because the same would apply to me.

How can it be, when my political views haven't changed? I still think trans women should be supported as far as possible as long as it doesn't conflict with the rights of anyone else. I'm afraid there was never a time where I thought it was ok to put biological men in women's prisons.

it's not a lie, and male sex criminals are not "a vulnerable minority". You're doing innocent trans women a disservice by pretending that, uniquely among subgroups of men, men in the trans community (or who claim to be) never commit these crimes.

You're so close to getting it. Because trans women are predominately straight men, that's the problem. And in fact trans women are twice as likely to commit sex crimes as other men.

referring to gender critical ppl, I don't think you can say "These people have changed their political views" on the basis of them saying trans women aren't literally women. We all just thought you were speaking figuratively and would acknowledge the obvious problems with sport, prisons, refuges etc

because the ruling doesn't do that, but the statement is stating an opinion as fact. "there has been a surge of transphobic hate promoted by the far-right, for political advantage" is out of touch - there hasn't been a surge of hate, and the 'far-right' bogeyman here is Sturgeonite nonsense.

thanks for the link. To pick one obvious example "the Supreme Court ruling of the 16 April goes against both recent and past European Court of Human Rights judgements" is out of touch and incorrect. The partisan language used throughout the statement would have left me quite happy to vote against it

I think that says more about how wildly out of touch the TUC is tbh. The EHRC guidance doesn't contain "trans exclusion and hate", it just affirms that biological sex actually matters in some situations. You can be in favour of accomodating trans people where possible without denying this.
