I’m into books, cats, and vegetarian cooking.
if you’re awake and you see this, would you say a prayer our cat comes home? We can’t find him and think he may have slipped outside when I took the recycling out.

Are there any happy novels that are also well written? I’ve bit on a depressing fiction tear. Currently reading Shuggie Bain, but the last several books were also heavy.

You know when a book is so good you’re sad when it ends? I feel that way about Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead. Just finished. I don’t think I’ve ever loved or related to a main character so much.

I started cataloging our books on GoodReads (which is super easy to do with the scanning feature) and am astonished at the titles we have that I wasn’t aware of or somehow forgot about. All of Henry James! Dostoyevsky short stories! a tiny Maritain tract! 576 cataloged so far and ~1.5 bookcases left

two disconnected thoughts:

1) we’re approaching that time of year when I listen to “walking in the air” on repeat.

2) I wish there were Black Friday sales on normal things like olive oil and coffee?

I’m reading Baldwin’s Go Tell It On The Mountain for the first time and can hardly put it down. I’m about 70 pages in, where Florence decides to move to NY.
