Would it make sense to have a variant of OCL that grants reproduction for commercial purposes, but still blocks patent filings? Or is that not possible, or valuable? Sorta like GPL, but with a way to fight patent trolls.

I find it to be a really interesting license, too, but I'm still trying to figure out what it actually can and can't do. Video soon!

Sad about the state of humanity and the industry that makes this license necessary. Thanks for making some explicit license that both protects your interests and hopefully the communities.

True open source isn't perfect for every use case. For those who want it, Voron still exists and is awesome.

I read through both responses. It'd be nice if you all had a resolution, but I don't blame y'all for not wanting to trust him. Same for him not wanting to rely his business on y'all. Without having hardware though, none of these apps do anyone any good. All old pebbles will die eventually.

My opinion, move forward.

I hope they realize this, but without new hardware Rebble efforts are doomed to die. It's better for us who just want a cool hackable watch to have a cool hackable watch.

I'd rather just have two ways of loading apps over drams.

Frankly it's risky for both groups. Releasing the apps releases control.

I'd love for this arrangement to work out, with having a central app store. It would be nice. But I don't think it will be sustainable for core devices if there isn't trust from Rebble. It'd be better to just make a new store.

It sounds like Rebble thinks that if they offer up an archive then core devices won't technically need to work with them. And they distrust working with a "company". On the flip side, it sounds like Eric is trying to build a company and do as right as possible around that. Including offering apps.

Not fun. Glad you are still alive. Your videos were some of the first I found when I first got into 3d printing back in 2018.

For that matter, I'm glad you're still making videos. Game changed under your feet and the 3d printing industry.

I second this. Megaman legends, fabraz style could be amazing.
