Seriously. I keep saying to people that Florida is getting in with 3 losses as long as they aren’t to like Mississippi State or Kentucky. It’s not that hard.

Of course they are. That’s a given. But I would never start to extrapolate that further about how big the gap is or any of that. It’s cup games. USL fans don’t get to point to cup games when there’s lots of upsets. The same should be said for MLS fans when it’s chalk.

Right but does that bite a team like Chicago later on for playing such a strong lineup midweek? It’s all about minmaxing for all competitions. It’s only May, nobody is eliminated from the playoffs already.

Really? Because I saw plenty of rotated lineups, same as always. A couple teams didn’t, which is also usual as well.

Some years, you get chalk, some years, you get more upsets. The US Open Cup is a lot March Madness in that way.
Extrapolating that out to say ANYTHING about quality of teams and leagues or “it’s ruining the game” is the most lazy damn hot take you can have. In both sports.
