My handsome, charming, funny daddy would be 93 today. He died at 56. Way too soon. But he sure had fun! I saw him about once a year and every time was like one of those military reunion videos. I know he would have built a tiki hut in my backyard.

My husband’s beautiful cousin took her life this week. Stunningly beautiful, handsome boyfriend, two young boys, retired teacher. We are in shock and so sad for her family. These are difficult times. And you never know what’s happening to people. Be kind.

I don’t understand. Why do they want to cut Social Security? I’ve paid in since I was 17. I retired this year at 62, mainly because it paid me more than my salary as a private school teacher. I still freelance and substitute teach. Explain it to me like I’m 5.

Thankful for family, friends, fabulous food, and football; for those who let me still write about it; my kids; my husband; my dog; and for the gift of sight because I truly thought I had lost it when my cataract surgery went sideways. Now I just need the gift of patience as I heal.
