generating tasks with a GPT that kinda knows me because I made the custom instructions about myself.

So, I’ve taken matters into my own hands and I’ve been working on an OpenAI api handled task creation. I’ve run into many obstacles, but this has been fun.

So then I started working with a living JSON file which was nice until I would forget to save the latest version and the GPT session reset and I lost access to the file it.

Windsurf. So the comments went crazy and I learned more from there enough that I went to research more about GitHub Copilot, which he said was trash. But it’s literally not using copilot models from MSFT, you can use 4o or Claude or whatever, so it’s not that bad.

I’ve been leaning into the AI coding and was considering what to use for myself since I already use ChatGPT heavily, I was okay with the out of IDE experience. But I saw a post of a Redditor talking about how they used every in-IDE AI tool on the market and criticized everything heavily except

This is the best solution I had without connecting to a DB and running the API on my own software, which I can’t use for work or using Azure or Google Cloud.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! Now I have something to organize my workload day to day and write my recaps.

The GPT has my roles and I worked with it to create a set of standards for the tasks so now I can just let the LLM handle the creation of tasks in a JSON file stored in memory. And each time I make a new chat, I just upload the latest version to read. Downloading it is a click.
