Public meeting documenter...narrative frame-spotter...'4 Freedoms' reactionary...class conflict advocate...quite contrary. Opinions mine & 'likes/reposts' not necessarily support.
So it is 12:32 PM and...still no sign of a meeting
October 29, 2025 at 4:34 PM
I was also confused by the use of the slide shown below regarding public outreach in relation to the Lets Build More Houses proposal...note it dated 2019 and speaks to the broader ZoneDetroit initiative
October 4, 2025 at 3:16 PM
Okay...not sure I understand how this is a 'down payment'...meaning in the sense of a commitment?
October 2, 2025 at 11:49 PM
And now we enter heresy-territory--proposal loosens parking minimums 😲😧She argues that it will neither destroy 'free enterprise' nor the auto industry...while noting Detroit actually has relatively few residents with a vehicle
October 2, 2025 at 11:45 PM
And then there is this...presenter notes this does NOT get rid of historic district(ish) requirements
October 2, 2025 at 11:43 PM
Goal of this proposal is to 1) increase supply of housing and 2) 'level the playing field' for residents/small builder/developer
October 2, 2025 at 11:34 PM
They are currently handling questions...talking about benefits of the proposed community/neighborhood center, educational programs it offers, and how they will handle accessibility issues and promote walkability
October 2, 2025 at 11:11 PM
So what is so cool is rapid-firing of names/locations...primary aspect is changing zoning from R2...images below provided to try and give a sense of location/geography
October 2, 2025 at 10:49 PM
Okay, I logged back in and the meeting has started...who knows the actual time...they are approving meeting minutes...for April 3rd 2025...so great!

We are moving to public hearing scheduled for--wait for it==5:15 PM , the Holland Maize rezoning request
October 2, 2025 at 10:44 PM
Now this is brilliant...at 6:31 the host ends the meeting and we get the following. How do you think I should respond to this, uh, 'survey'?
October 2, 2025 at 10:33 PM
It is 5:40...and we are getting "check...check...check"
October 2, 2025 at 9:41 PM
So we have played 6 & 1/2 & Tigers up 6-1...I just got a weather alert from...Newsweek? Honestly didn't know they still existed. But showing more life than our meeting...it is now 5:24...and we get this 😆
October 2, 2025 at 9:25 PM
Sigh...at least the Tigers have busted things open...but this 🤷‍♂️👇
October 2, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Brace yourselves for some 'Magic of the Market' talk🎩🧙‍♂️🐰... image below from the City's presentation linked to above
October 2, 2025 at 8:57 PM
It will look like this
September 24, 2025 at 7:40 PM
They have moved to item 11, the CEO's report. She *ahem* is not available for this meeting so the deputy is speaking...the slide below replaces that which is present in the report (which you can get online at the link for agenda included in one of the first posts in this thread)
September 24, 2025 at 7:37 PM
The 'Takeaway' slide from the Resiliency Team progress report (item 8.B. in agenda)...this gets handed over to the Army Corps of Engineers
September 24, 2025 at 7:14 PM
Quick review of other GLWA projects and notes that as work is done, more issues/problems are uncovered...likens this as to working on an old home (& this owner of an 1895 house sympathizes)
September 24, 2025 at 7:12 PM
He mentions they are slowing their roll on parts of the Connor Creek project due to some of the issues they have had with Freud pump station...apparently things are on hold & sideways lip-service paid to having dropped the ball on community outreach
September 24, 2025 at 7:09 PM
Multiple slides on Connor Creek...I missed one...here is last
September 24, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Apparently, Connor Creek is in the 'final stages'...
September 24, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Onto update of investigation of 2021 event & where they are at...
September 24, 2025 at 7:05 PM
The scary truth...the level of water that came down was at volume/intensity that the built infrastructure--even if it were new & had no structural defects--would not have been able to handle this water event
September 24, 2025 at 7:03 PM
On to next presentation and this is very cool -- starts with comparison of Detroit event with recent flood in Greater Milwaukee -- and shows it is eerily similar...almost like warning of changing trends
September 24, 2025 at 6:59 PM
The room is only partly full ... kind of a shame as this is fascinating stuff but hey, it is, after all, 'just a board meeting' and plus started at 2 PM, so I get it
