There is no easy way out of extinction. This is amazing and such a wonderful breakthrough in discovery, but this is not fully a solution. Alone these are a proof of the process, that we can patch a genome and bring a close cousin to life. But we still have to preserve what we have.

This is not bringing back an extinct species.

The nuance (and my brain started playing the Jurassic Park theme) is this is a patched genome so not fully what would have been but a hybrid (for lack of a better term at this time in the morning)

Update - cancelled my breakdown and got rescued by my sister when the time changed from 9:20 to 12:20 instead to 12:00 to 3:00. Yes that’s AM.
