King Static is a third-person stylish action rogue-like with a heavy emphasis on items that change the game and expand combo possibilities.

Just learned that you can skew Control nodes in Godot by using canvas_item_set_transform in _draw

"Exploder" enemies don't explode immediately on kill, but will instead turn into a ball that explodes on contact with any surface or enemy.

Recording this took more attempts than I'd like to admit.

They are doable. I was thinking of something like a control room filled with screens monitoring the player, or maybe breakable televisions that show the player's view.
There was a moment in Super Hot where there are screens that show the game from the player's perspective, those were really cool.

Made me curious, turns out there is something called a ViewportTexture that you can use and apply that to a material directly
Setup was surprisingly simple, only thing that wasn't straightforward was needing to set the material to 'Local to Scene'

Recently (last month) discovered Godot's SubViewports and they are SO NEAT I love them!!!
I wonder what else they can be used for besides UI, maybe cameras idk?

Buddy's model was fixed and re-textured to match KingStatic's style.

Also found some concept art, and other character models which I may or may not re-use.

Grab attacks are in! (only 1 at the moment)

It was a pain trying to get the enemies to not clip through the map.

Enemy AI is a bit "unintelligent"... probably not that big of an issue in a game all about combat right?
