Possibly Epstein thought Trump ratted him out to the cops in mid 00's, or at least corroborated info to investigators.

This is a great read and I particularly enjoyed the negative 3% factoid. I wonder if there isn't a low-tech solution while we wait for speed limiters for non-city vehicles. What would be the efficacy of raising crosswalks to the height of the sidewalk, for example. Have them act as speed bumps.

In the film, The Warriors, we can briefly see an arcade in the background at Union Square. If Union Square had an arcade in the 70s, a bowling alley in West 4th more than 50 years later seems reasonable

Trying to imagine this kind of publicity in the 50s with Cary Grant and Grace Kelly movies.

not being a dick. "media" has always radicalized people, in ways big and small.

"White officials, politicians, and journalists argued consistently and passionately that mob violence was a reaction to the crime of rape"

he was also very dismissive too, 'newspapers couldn't possibly have the effect on people like social media does'

great piece!
"our current social media and media landscape looks less like a radical break with an idyllic media past, and more like a continuation of a racist default"
i got into argument with him before about this and he cannot deal w/ historical analogies to current problems.

"His helmet sometimes blends in with the other helmets and uh - no, I'm kidding (sucks wind through his teeth for five seconds), but uh he's Darth, and he's great and we love him."

it's great that's he's telling the same story everyday like a standup working on his material

Fun piece. I've seen a lot of Cray Grant films but not Penny Serenade, and now I really want to from your description. Saw Sergeant York a few months ago and was prepared not to like it, but Cooper really was very good even when he was playing 18 or however old they started they started him.
