Great to see the new shared path through South Hagley Park is open! So much smoother, flatter, and wider than the old one (between the netball courts and Deans Ave at the old Blenheim Road alignment/South Express Major Cycle Route

That's it from the very first international #coffeeoutside ride in the world in 2025 (we are just inside the international date line, after all). We got amazing RSVP numbers (ahem! More than Adelaide, Berlin, and Paris even 🫨), but we fell short on turn out. The rain did us in.

Thank you Chrissie Williams for your powerful letter.

It is sad to see the anti-cycling attitude from some elected members and election candidates.

In most part people are good, please show this by supporting election candidates committed to safe cycling infrastructure for everyone.

With frosty mornings, it's important to stay aware of icy surfaces! Stay alert, especially early in the morning and in places where it's dark and shady, where ice can stick around for a bit longer.

Get involved! The new Land Transport Reform Package (Minimum Overtaking Gap for Passing Cyclists and Horse Riders) goes out for consultation early next year, but now is the time to join demonstrations and build community

This is a great story about the community getting organised to keep safer speed limits in place - perhaps we could do that in Canterbury too

Are you looking for a nice destination for a cycle, don’t forget about our lovely botanic gardens, while it’s winter now, the gardens are still a beautiful place to visit. Remember you can’t ride your bike through so head to most of the entrances which have high quality bike parking outside them.
June 16, 2025 at 8:57 AM
The Winter Solstice ride is next Saturday! Bling out your bike and bring a friend (or two) See you there!
