[2/2] I’d let the comic speak for itself, but I should clarify: the giant snake is Apep, the glowing deity is Atum -- both primordial beings of Ancient Egypt w/ opposing views regarding their world.

[Pages continued from earlier comment thread.] PAGE 5 of 8 --- Atum continues with his admonishing remarks to Apep, while also unfurling his golden griffin wings and increasing the golden light from his magic ward. Atum: "[...] Especially coming from an abhorrent serpent... who could not care less about the well-being of my kin." "I will not 'humor' you with answer for the sake of your ego trip. My thoughts would be of no use to you..." "And you cannot threaten me here. Now, begone." Apep hisses in protest at Atum's retort, before simmering down. Apep: "...Very well. But heed these words..." PAGE 6 of 8 --- Apep slowly slithers past Atum and back into the darkness Apep: "You can insist on shielding yourself within this endless pool of nothingness..." "But you will only be stalling the inevitable. Your fall will come soon enough." "Your pantheon will collapse... And your world will crumble along with it." PAGE 7 of 8 --- Apep opens his mouth to reveal his serpentine black tongue and elongated, viper-like fangs, as he fades into the dark void. Apep: "Until then..." "I have nothing but time..." "And I will wait..." "For the perfect moment to strike." Atum, after a beat of silence from Apep's departure: "...Then so be it." PAGE 8 of 8 (Final page) --- Atum channels his magic into the pool of his scrying bowl. As he touches the reflective, liquid surface, it reveals images of the various deities in the Egyptian pantheon (which includes earlier artwork that I've drawn of the cast, in a collage-type display). Atum: "All-the-gods-willing, I will not be the one to fall... and nor will my brethren." "Even if it means we have a struggle ahead of us... I have the utmost faith in my entire pantheon." "And soon, so will they all." The last panel ends on a 'title card' reveal / drop, with the logo for "Deities of Duat."
