There are middle class people voting republican?

Sure, many may think they are middle class, but I’d wager very few people voting republican actually ARE middle class. They’re working poor or filthy rich. The latter know what they are, the former don’t.

I love his name and this reminds me of the Japanese pronunciation which is just WILD.

Edowagarannpo.

Why? Because Japan of course.

I just ADORE your kitty’s name.

I have lived half my life in this crazy country… matched with the time spent in the crazy country of my birth.

I had a cd player with a slipping belt on the drive eject mechanism, and solved the problem with a bit of hair spray.

It’s an inexpensive hack if you can’t find the belt.

4. Lastly, let me end on a highlight. All the homages to the animated film were wonderful. They're all imperfect, and that's OK, because perfection means perfectly duplicating the original, which is boring, and, probably wouldn't have been as enjoyable.

This film was a good balance. Thank you!

3. Ariel singing to Eric from the rock needed more emphasis, less realism. This feels a lot like #2, but it's more about selling the highlight moments of the film, even if it's at the expense of physical realism. Talking fish and birds aren't real. Bend how waves and water move a bit.

2. Emphasis on realism over theme was a bit extreme. Ariel was representing the red sea, and she needed better representation of that, even if it's just a color streak, a tattoo, etc. It could even be woven into the story.

1. The CG was lazy. There was a LOT of physical interaction with Sebastian and Flounder in the animated film. That's hard in CG, I get it, but do better. Even Rodger Rabbit found a way. Ariel was drowning on her own, and the support of her friends was CENTRAL to the original.

I’m doing a job he’d probably consider low productivity. I’m also a highly skilled and experienced software architect. My current role is to facilitate the success of others. That means my production output is quite poor.

Not all essential parts of a system are directly productive.

Through all that, see the humanity (for lack of a better word) in alien creatures and the abhorrence of yourself fellow humans, who also happen to be the real aliens.

What I’m saying is, it wasn’t a great movie, but I don’t feel guilty for liking it. It was definitely not a bad movie.

This movie was about dehumanization, both of alien creatures and other humans, and had some visceral gut punch moments.

You want to save this life? Do it using your teeth to hold the rope its life depends on. Degrade yourself before the villain to do what’s right, but definitely not dignified.

There was a fullness of the human experience to Micky 17.

It’s no art movie to be sure, but, it has a richness to it that the setting belies. That’s what good SF is really though, it removes the setting from the ordinary to depersonalize the real issue it’s depicting.

Hate is the point with them. It’s really sick.

Thank you, was needing some dopamine, and this is the best kind of post to get it from.

The fact that the onion has more integrity than most mainstream news services is a damning condemnation of the current state of things.

Don’t get me wrong, the Onion is doing the upright thing, and should keep doing so.

While true, currency gives a stake in the ground. Speculative assets are even less tethered to reality.

Indeed, very dramatic feels. Business fundamentals don’t move this way or this fast.

It’s all bullshit at this point.

I thought these were b/w only? The different greyscale patterns still exist in my head.
