Ozone — Strutt My Thang (1983). This album completes my collection of the funk band, their last LP before disbanding due to limited promotion by Motown. #vinyl

Marcus Miller — Lovin' You (1983). Two years after Roberta Flack recorded this song for the Bustin' Loose soundtrack, the bassman himself laid the funk down for his first solo album. #vinyl

Jimmy Cliff — Sitting In Limbo (1973). RIP to the reggae legend, who passed away earlier today. Jimmy Cliff's contributions to The Harder They Come, one of the most highly rated movie soundtracks of all time, were immense for the future of the musical genre. #vinyl

Unknown Artist — Baretta's Theme (Keep Your Eyes On The Sparrow) (1978). Hong Kong record I recently bought. There is no information on the release about who performed the '70s TV show covers, but the funk and grooves are undeniable. #vinyl

David Hudson — Just A Feeling (1987). Soul music on a rainy but relaxing Saturday night.

Buffalo Soldier — Too Late Mama (1983). British-Finnish B-side boogie bopper that's been hiding in my collection for the past year. #vinyl

Rendezvous — Give It If You Got It (1979). My favourite track from this sole album studio assemblage at the tail end of the mainstream disco era, masterminded by British producer Alan Hawkshaw. For Toronto heads, the cover was photographed at The Guild Inn Estate by the Scarborough Bluffs. #vinyl

Wayne Newton — You Stepped Into My Life (1979). The Bee Gees original from '76, covered by Melba Moore @melba1moore two years later before Mr. Las Vegas stepped into the disco scene. #vinyl

RAH Band — Slide (1981). An instrumental disco banger by British producer, arranger, conductor, and multi-instrumentalist Richard Hewson, and re-edited by Canadian club DJ Wally MacDonald. Hewson used his initials for the name of his disco studio project. #vinyl

Limmie Funk Limited — Soul Rules O.K. (1977). U.K. soul and disco band from the late 1970s which later evolved into the Nick Straker Band of "A Little Bit Of Jazz" fame. #vinyl

T.U.M.E. — Stone Cold Freak (1975). Bought this album a while ago, but didn't give it a proper listen until now. A great mix of funk and soul on this one album group, featuring Howard Huntsberry (of Klique fame) on drums and vocals, and Ron Kersey (Salsoul Orchestra/The Trammps) on keyboards. #vinyl

Bar-Kays — Do You See What I See? (1972). The prolific Memphis band regrouped following a plane crash in the late '60s, which took the lives of Otis Redding and all but two members of the group while they were employed as his backing band. #vinyl

Ojiji — Forgotten Dream (1979). Toronto jazz-funk and reggae album by Rupert Harvey, founder and lead vocalist of the band Messenjah. He and brother Carl Harvey emigrated to Canada from Jamaica and were soon signed by Columbia Records in the mid-'70s to a recording contract for Crack Of Dawn. #vinyl

Sandy Steele — Mind Your Own Business (1980). Canadian leftfield disco cover of the original by British post-punk and new wave band Delta 5. Not much is known about this artist, which may be a pseudonym used by prolific Montreal producer Jerry Cucuzzella for one of his studio disco projects. #vinyl

Black Ivory — Big Apple Rock (1979). New to the collection. Boogie legend Leroy Burgess has been a mainstay with the group, formed when five young Harlem, N.Y., teens auditioned for Patrick Adams, a musician in the late '60s who later became a soul, disco, and boogie producer and arranger. #vinyl

L.A. Boppers — Wrap You Up (1982). So the Los Angeles Dodgers weren't exactly bopping at the plate or on the mound during the first game of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. As the defending champions and entering the series as favourites, I would say they were likely humbled. #vinyl

Clive Bradley — Party On The Block (1974). Heavy big band funk from the Trinidad & Tobago artist who briefly moved to Canada in the 1960s. A Canadian pressing of this record was made back in the day, likely for folks from the Caribbean who were making their way north for a better life. #vinyl

Pure Energy — When You're Dancin' (1980). Finally found the group's sole album in the field this weekend. Two of the members, Lisa Stevens and Curtis Hudson, wrote Madonna's hit Holiday. #vinyl
