Correct. But their costs are in roubles and their revenues are in hard currencies (dollars or yuan). Even if it is a loss on paper, it provides international purchasing power.

Putin obviously has a hold on Trump. Trump's worst insecurity is that he might be "a looser" like his dad said. He needs all that gold-effect stuff that he never pays for - needs it like a drunk needs alcohol.
So those loans completely explain Trump's behaviour.

It's not even hidden, Russia holds the loans on a lot of his real estate. They laundered Russian money thru real estate for decades, why he sells to people behind layers of shell companies. Then there's Deutsche Bank, Trump's old lender, which was laundering Russian money thru real estate as well.
