The Dirty Turkeys from Denver Colorado are coming to Reno next week playing with Etiquette and Trestles at The Holland Project and I am so stoked to see this band. Their Bandcamp tags I feel sum up the band well enough as their style blends surf and americana with psychedelic rock and acid cow punk (love this description so damn much). Their album Cowboy Caravan came out last April and full of hits its hard to pick one track to feature.

Itchy and the Nits hail from Sydney Australia and Secrets is a single from their upcoming album Greetings From... which drops February 6th. I learned about this group via RSTB and absolutely dig the Aussie band's brand of garage punk. From a 2023 interview, the band states influences by bands like Nikki an the Corvettes, The Donnas and The Gizmos and I can totally see it.

Closed Curtains are an alternative rock band from Reno and these guys shred. They performed a few days ago at The Holland Project and their set was high energy and incredible (sadly, wasn't able to attend but the clips going around Instagram blew me away). Unknown Mortal Orchestra are coming to Lake Tahoe May 22nd at The Hangar and this should be a very good show. I've saw the band live about a decade ago opening for Tame Impala at the Greek Theater in Berkeley and enjoyed every minute of their set. Their latest EP Curse released last June.

When I had started up my first music blog back in 2009 (2010? dates escape me now) one of the first bands I covered was Woodsman and their brand of Colorado psychedelia. I was huge supporter of Fire Talk Records back then but had lost track of what they had going on when the blog closed a few years later and took a long break from music due to life and adulting.

LA Witch are coming to Reno end of March, performing at Cypress, to kick off their Spring tour and I'm super excited for this show. I've been a big fan of the garage rock trio for some time and love the energy they bring to the stage. They will be supported by Austin's incredible Daiistar Tickets can be picked up here

Church Ladies are a duo out of Reno who have posted 5 incredible sounding singles on their Bandcamp and its pretty hard to choose which one is may favorite. Wonder Girl release August of 2024 which leans in danceable garage rock with wonderful vocals. Church Kids, their most recent single from November (ok, they have a Silent Night cover that is also pretty rad that came out last December) is more stripped down to acoustic guitar with simple keyboard notes to give the track a dreamy feel to it.

"Too Close" is the first track off the debut EP What a Day! from Reno's Etiquette. What stands out to me on this EP is each track has its own distinct feel and tone which makes me very excited to see how this bands grows and develops. It's high energy and Etiquette sound fantastic Catch the band live February 5th at the Holland Project in support of Santa Cruz beach/garage rockers Trestles & Denver's The Dirty Turkeys and on March 7th at Lo-Bar supporting Oakland's Pink Skies.

Bones is a fantastic track from an overall excellent album titled Salt from Santa Cruz's Trestles. They blend jangly beach rock with thunderous garage sounds and the result is such a delight to listen to. I was able to check out The Walls Are Lava on Saturday and I absolutely loved this exhibition. The premise of the show was that the artists were able to create art or sculpture but the walls were off limits. What you have are installations that the artist's use this restriction to their creative advantage. Pieces that stretch along the floor (

The Cottage is about halfway through its run over at Reno Little Theater and I love seeing SOLD OUT when it comes to community theaters. Written by Sandy Rustin, the play is best described by RLT below: "Sylvia and Beau find themselves in an English countryside cottage for their yearly rendezvous, and Sylvia knows this time it will be the beginning of their new life together.
