Issue is not that insurance companies are adding on little extra costs on top of your bills, it’s that the healthcare is expensive in general and there are no other avenues in the US, such as a public healthcare option.

My point being that the issue is the bill is unaffordable for such a person. A hundred dollars less doesn’t mean much if you already have to get into massive debt you’d be repaying for years, that is if you even manage to finance it.

If you’re living pay check to pay check and a health emergency leaves you with a 10k dollar bill I highly doubt if it were 100 dollars less it would be noticeable difference. The issue is that the bill was too high to pay overall.

Better question is, would there be any notable decrease in healthcare costs for people if the company minimised its profit margins? If not, then the health insurance companies are not the problem.

My understanding is that the whole appeal of Bluesky is that it’s a protocol of its own that doesn’t require a single team to run it. We just happen to be posting on one instance but we can just as well be on another one with its own rules and moderation.

“Ending the war” is a stupid goal. If Ukraine just have the occupied eastern territories and Crimea to Russia that would end the war, but it would also be a surrender. Ukraine deserves justice, not just giving up.
