2025 Book #126 - I, Medusa by Ayana Gray. The only mortal daughter to a family of gods, a young woman becomes a priestess of Athena, only to become a monster after being seduced by Poseidon. I liked this one but really wanted more of Medusa the monster. 3/5.

2025 Book #125 - Billion Dollar Ransom by Duane Swierczynski. The simultanious kidnapping of a wealthy family for a huge ransom sets a hungry FBI agent and LAPD chief on the hunt for the culprits. Pretty messy but still fun. Stealing from billionaires is morally pretty cool. 3/5.

2025 Book #124 - A Christmas Story by Jean Shepherd. A collection of short stories about a boy growing up in Depression-era Indiana. Pretty sure these are just a few selects from a larger collection but they're pretty good ones even if only one of them is about Christmas. 4/5.

Had to sit in ATT for abt an hour today while I got a new phone. The tv was on fox news and I dont think Ive ever felt more depressed or disheartened after listening to it.

2025 Book #123 - Rainbow Black by Maggie Thrash. A coming of age story about a young queer girl trying to navigate the aftermath of her parents being targeted by the Satanic Panic of the 80s/90s. I really enjoyed the early sections but the last third does drag it down a bit. 4/5.

2025 Book #122 - Cackle by Rachel Harrison. Fresh off a breakup a teacher moves to a new town and starts a friendship with a woman who seems to have the whole community under her spell. It has its moments for sure but I just don't think it went far enough, still fun though. 3/5.

2025 Book #121 - Run, Rose, Run by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. An aspiring musician is mentored by a country music legend while trying to stay ahead of her mysterious past. A part of me wonders what this book would be like without the love interest but it was alright. 3/5.

I'm less upset about the library saying I'm due back a book I never checked out, but more the fact it's a Dan Brown. Gross.

2025 Book #120 - Something to Look Forward Too by Fannie Flagg. A collection of shorts with some loosely connected by a grandmother and granddaughter trying to connect across the country over several decades. Really cheesy and over the top but Flagg is just fun to read. 3/5.

2025 Book #119 - Red Rain by RL Stine. In the aftermath of a hurricane a woman adopts those twins from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared and is shocked when they turn out to be evil. This book is so unserious it's just Goosebumps with swearing. It also has a kind of pointless cop plot. 2/5.

2025 Book #118 - The Rack by Tom Deady. A collection of horror shorts by various authors inspired by 70s and 80s paperbacks. There were some fun shorts here like White Pages, Fuzzy Slippers and Last Call of the Cicada so overall a decent read. 3/5.

2025 Book #117 - When You Trap A Tiger by Tae Keller. A young girl makes a deal with a mystical tiger to try and save her sick grandmother. This gets pretty heavy for a children's book but it's a sweet story and I liked the sister relationship. 3/5

2025 Book #116 - Crafting for Sinners by Jenny Kiefer. Stuck in the Kentucky town of Kill Devil a queer woman is trapped and hunted by a religious cult in definitely not a Hobby Lobby. I liked this well enough but I walked away not really thinking it did anything that great. 3/5.

2025 Book #115 - Sky Daddy by Kate Folk. A woman who is sexually attracted to planes and wants to "marry" one by dying in a crash joins up with a vision board group to try and manifest her goal. I actually really liked this one and it's kind of hilarious. 4/5

2025 Book #114 - The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones. A vampire story set in the late 1800s. Kept that short to say this is a good book but good lord I just can't gel with SGJ's writing style, it's just not for me. Took me two weeks to finish this. 3/5.

Not counting this one cause its only like 50 pages long but...Ushers by Joe Hill. A detective interviews a suspect in a train derailment who has a history of narrowly avoiding mass tragedies. It's pretty predictable and way too short but it's a cool read. 3/5.

2025 Book #113 - Remain by Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shyamalan. Fresh out of a psychiatric hospital an architect begins forming a relationship with the deceased resident of the house he's staying in. This is a sweet, if kind of bland, story and I liked the romance. 3/5.
