you also wouldnt say the sun is good because it rises every morning-- it gives energy and life to the earth not as a result of its own virtue but simply because it happens to be a star of a particular size and particular distance from the earth. a person doing good things for bad reasons is similar.

also, as a more extreme example, imagine someone who always does the right thing (assuming that moral truth exists and can be known) but on the inside theyre completely empty of any emotion or desire to do good. theyre essentially a robot that does good things on accident. are they a good person?

ok so like, i feel like intention matters and can make a moral act either not-as-good or not-as-bad. for example, is someone who punches you accidentally the same as someone who punches you intentionally? would you be equally unable to forgive both of them?

then are people who do bad things for good reasons just as bad as people who do bad things for bad reasons?

what if you try to break someones back and accidentally get rid of their cramp? what if you donate to the trevor project so that they can "find a cure"? what if you intentionally run someone over and only realize after the fact it was vince mcmahon?
