It's the visual pain flashbacks in her eyes/drift off, when talking about her bed. I remember it clear as day from years ago when I first saw it without even re-watching.

And this is exactly why he doesn't want them using it. The voting and seeing the real world. It's not a coincidence it comes at the same time as the Mis/Dis info legislation.
