I watch my household spiders and give them silly names. Follow me to see pictures of them in the trashy corners of my old, half-renovated Ontario farmhouse.
Your planters are being looked after by the pros!

I'm glad someone understands! (also lacewings are some of my favourite insects)

Exactly the question I asked!

Here is Acorn on their first day in their new home. It took about a month after my initial discovery for all of their siblings to disperse. Two of them have established their own webs in my front hallway and basement, close to the doorway they hatched from, and one has already caught a fly 🪰

Mom moved on with her life, and I spent a few weeks observing the babies as they began to disperse. I was so mesmerized by the mom that I couldn't help wanting to keep a baby for myself, so when the spiderlings looked ready to leave I carefully used a paintbrush to coax Acorn onto an index card.

Here is Acorn's mom. A dirty, busted up old door frame in an unfinished room is a great spot for a Steatoda nursery! I love these beautiful, trashy little spiders so much.

I also love sitting in my burrow facing the wall
