So. ironically enough if you're passionate about the way tech companies dehumanize people, the show might speak to you a lot, if you gave it a try through that lens. up to you, though, obviously!! main thing i wanted to get across was "they did in fact write 03 different on purpose" (5/5)

i feel like if you watch the show with that in mind, its direction makes a lot more sense than if you're trying to play spot-the-difference with the manga. it's a treatise on dehumanization (and in my opinion a really good and relevant one). (4/5)

you can also see that like all good writers, sho aikawa looked at the premise of fma and immediately started looking for Themes. HIS vision was evidently a story about what happens when we reduce other human beings to the sum of their parts, and he got the go-ahead to write that instead. (3/5)

in the volume 8 extras, arakawa says she gave the writers of the show her *entire* plot outline early on in production. and you can even see at the bottom left of the first page that she brought up father specifically: (2/5)

i did want to point out, since i don't see anyone else doing so, that it's provably false that father wasn't in the 03 anime because the writers didn't know about him (1/5)
