Nearly every female mutant has a book: Phoenix, Storm, Magik, Psylocke, and Laura Kinney: Wolverine have ongoing series. Mystique and Rogue: Savage Land have 5-book runs. Not to mention Ironheart has a new ongoing starting in April.

It's an interesting thought. I don't think it works as an animated film. You can't convince people that Santa Claus is real if Santa is an animated character. Nevertheless, more families would have gone to see it, but fewer adults. I've never seen Polar Express, and I wouldn't have watched Red One.
