Colorful sunrise this morning. Took a short trip to unplug for a couple of days. Watching 80s movies, drinking wine, eating cheese and chocolate. For at least 48 hours, gonna pretend the world hasn’t gone to shit.

Took this photo of the sun setting on Exuma Island back in July. The sky was golden from the Saharan air layer and dust plumes. Had an eerie look. My seagull friend, Scissorbill, came by most evenings to see what was for dinner 😂

My inner hope has gotten me through some really dark times. She’s definitely a battle-hardened badass. I’ve had to help her with some therapy and chemicals over time, but the thing that makes her get up time and again is the sweet face of my granddaughter.

Several years ago, on this day, I was on my last work trip of the year. I was headed home & had to pull off the highway to get on a conf call somewhere in Minnesota.
Afterwards I got out to stretch my legs, and took this photo. I remember the clear, cold air and the profound silence.

Took my Dad to a lovely Veteran’s Day parade today. We were in CO visiting my daughter and granddaughter and he was so happy. I teared up a few times watching him being saluted and even hugged a few times by other Veterans and soldiers. Everything I know about freedom and civic duty came from him.
