Even my irreligious self can’t help but mourn a little here. He was a prominent voice for a better world to the very end and demonstrated that religion doesn’t have to be used in the fascistic way that the right has co-opted. I liked the guy; we should have listened to him.

I do prefer Close to the Edge, but Fragile does have its place in my heart. It’s not as consistently good as Close to the Edge, but I’d say its highs are higher. Just a lovely album.

I never quite know which recordings to turn to when listening to classical music, but I owned this one so I figured it would be a fine place to start. Usually I just go for orchestras that I know tend to have high quality.
