Fair enough, I guess I only seem to hear people saying "he's not as bad as Farage/Badenoch/Corbyn/Sunak etc.", "by criticising him you're enable Farage/Badenoch", or the plaintive "give him a chance". I can't recall anyone ever saying "Starmer is a brilliant man with a great vision for the UK"

Is anyone actually a fan of Starmer? I always get the sense he's tolerated as a lesser evil rather than supported, even before he was PM.

we do seem trapped in an economic death spiral though. Our minimum wage is not bad compared to other European nations, and our tax burden not significantly worse. But housing, energy, food etc. continue to rise faster than wages.

They knew it wasn't charitable, they were just grateful you brought things to a swift conclusion

We do however need warehouses and people to work in them. Maybe the solution is more to do with pay and conditions than blaming councils? Are we meant to ban warehouses and warehouse work? I mean, what's the ideal outcome here?

My father has told me that some people credited the bicycle for Vietnam winning the war, due to their supply carrying abilities.
January 7, 2026 at 3:45 PM
I may have done it myself once or twice. Even with panniers it's not always easy to get a full load of shopping up a steep hill, but pushing it on a bike is easier than carrying it by hand.

currently in a Teams meeting wearing a hat. I WFH full-time and see no reason to hide the fact I am trying to stay warm.

I was given a similar task at the Upper Crust at Gatwick in 1998. TBF we weren't changing it by that much, just a few hours (their sandwiches had a sticker saying at what exact time they'd been made).

Didn't you get the memo? Noncing is only bad when brown people or lefties do it. The EDL was chock full of nonces, Reform has MP's with domestic violence convictions, and none of the "protect our women and kids" mob give a shit.

?? as man with a bike who also walks places, a car first approach is pretty hostile to me too. You too I would imagine. I get your wider point but this is very clumsy phrasing.

It almost certainly is a bag of coal slumped over the top tube, as that was the typical method for collecting sea coal. I am told they made special bikes with a double top tube, to help bear the weight. Even if you can't ride the bike with the coal on there it makes a handle wheelbarrow.

Trump Is arrogant as hell So was Boris Johnson, so is Nigel Farage. This arrogant elitism of the green movement is a right wing media confection.

It is with a pint
January 6, 2026 at 9:05 PM
Thats nonsense. “Renewables are cleaner, cheaper and will make us less dependent on despotic regimes”
“Stop lecturing me like I‘m a child you smug elitist“ whatever
January 6, 2026 at 8:55 PM
It’s not silly that they do it, because it works for them and their manufactured culture war. It’s silly that so many dopey twats fall for it.

SMS still has a place. Not everyone has data all the time

Nor pavements where I live. Councils are broke, gritting roads is outsourced to private companies as councils can't afford gritter lorries, and it has apparently not occurred to any council ever that walking and cycling are also travel.

If the church starts offering Stella and a carvery they’ll be on it

Only if you really want it to mean that, in a slightly desperate attempt to sound like a good
man online.

Although looking at that clip, it looks as if Tate is knackered. Holding a guard is harder work than it looks.
December 21, 2025 at 5:09 PM
The guard is different though because fights are usually at longer range and kicks travel further than punches. Low guards or long guards are more common, where boxing tends to use a tight guard. Anyhow, he’s still a prick, but he has a legit kickboxing background.
December 21, 2025 at 4:24 PM
He’s a kickboxer, and they tend to have a different guard and fight at longer range than a boxer. Not that I’m sad to see the twat take a pasting, but he was apparently an ok kickboxer.
