I like it but god where do you find players that will actually roleplay at this level. I play in exactly one table like that so I know it can happen but almost everyone I can get to my tables is either tactical heroic fantasy-pilled or just lacking confidence to take character swings

It's well-justified fear, don't get me wrong. They will shoot you in the street if you give them an excuse, but trying not to give them excuses isn't exactly heroic restraint that will be necessarily be rewarded by the democratic system correcting itself in 2026/2028.

Certainly you shouldn't mouth off about how important it is for communities to use whatever means of self-defense are required of them; this is still a platform with standards after all. But I am losing patience with Americans claiming that passivity is justified by anything other than fear.

I called it my best SF/F read of 2025 despite it being one of the first I finished in the year! Aside from being a great High Weird riff on a hero's journey I think it has a lot to chew on in how people make meaning in the face of societal decay and isolation, casting down of myths, etc.

apparently Dorothy Tennov who coined the term thought ambiguity was an important element but yeah the common usage seems to align with your perception

Y'know in my head I sometimes think of you as younger than you are b/c of how young you are in early vids, but this helps get me properly calibrated

But most importantly of all, because I can grant there's a level of complicity for much of the world here, it's still not presumptive or unjustified for those of us under the aegis of the domination machine to not want it blatantly used for evil.

It's not like Europe could just decide to catch up to the USA for decades after WWII left a decent amount of the continent in ruins, and headstarts like that compound over time

I hope this is hyperbole because it's off by a factor of about 100 according to cursory googling. And more to the point if your thesis "Europe did this too! They *let* us build the global domination machine! Didn't they realize we couldn't be trusted?!?" then that's not suuuuuper compelling
