Hey #BikeSky! Can you help me with an art project I’m working on? If you’re part of a local bike group that has stickers, can you mail me 3 of them? As long as they mention your city or state, or they have a social media handle that people can follow to see what state you’re in.
I want to get a sticker from a social bike club in each state, and put them all together in one spot where cyclists in Denver pass by a lot. A reminder of all of the people around the country working to make cycling safer. The people that get infrastructure built that I use when on vacation. The people who win battles that inspire me to push for change at home. How to help: - Screenshot this story and share it on yours. - Message friends from other states who might be able to help. - DM me to see if your state has been taken yet. What: Ride in either the scavenger hunt or alleycat race. Bring a lock, panniers or bag to carry food, and around $20 to buy food items.
Join us for our bike-powered food drive. You can particiapte in either a chill scavenger hunt, or an alleycat race. Then we will regroup to drop-off the food, and have a social afterward. All are welcome, bring your friends!

Torin and I are doing a slideshow about our 14ers trip on November 4th from 6:30-7:30pm at Movement RiNo. It’s $10, and that gets you access to go climbing after the presentation.

New release for GoBikeCamping.com is out! You can now put a GPX route on the map and see how far away a POI is from your route. It also adds mile markers to the route to help you better estimate distance.

There are now 28 sites in Canada on the map. Right now we only have sites in Québec. If you have sites from other provinces please add them.

Thank you to everyone that has been contributing sites to the map. Touring season has already started in the southern US, but I'm working hard to get out some great features for the summer touring season for us in more northern regions.

W 29th Ave Bike Lane. The implementation of the 29th Ave bike lane was another blunder from the City. After months of public review and engagement, the City finalized a plan that was almost fully protected. It was locked in. Then the City later changed the plan, and removed a section of the protected bike lane to preserve a few parking spaces. The City prioritized a few parking spaces over safe and viable travel routes for people outside of cars. Viva Streets. ¡Viva! Streets was a massively popular event in 2023, when a large section of downtown was closed to cars. Non-motorized users could enjoy the public space for once. Then the City canceled it in 2024 due to red-tape and bureaucracy. Instead of supporting it and trying to make it happen again, the City kept throwing up impediments. The organizers had to push the event to 2025 (hopefully 🤞). This behavior follows a clear pattern of ignoring and subverting efforts to make Denver a better place to live.

Denver Folks 🗣️ come to City Council on Tuesday the 18th. 5 - 5:30pm. City officials have been dropping the ball hard on making our streets safer. Let's tell them what we think and show them that we are organized.

What is Denver doing to our streets? In the last few months the City has made choices that endanger people not in cars, or has done nothing where these dangers exist. From the City’s website: “Denver's Safe System approach makes safety the highest priority for all investments.” This is not how they are operating right now. We have planned some protests in response. Swipe for protest info. Upcoming days of Action. Feb 17 City Council Public Comment 5-5:30. At the city and county building. Come to City Council! Want to speak? Ask us how to sign up. Come pack the Council Chambers and make your voice heard. If you’ve never been and are looking to get involved, this is the night to come out. Feb 23, Larimer St Block Party, 12-3pm. Outside of Ratio Brewing. We’ll be occupying the currently missing pedestrian block of Larimer, in protest, and returning it to its former glory. Bring your friends, lawn games, chairs, and meet your neighbors and fellow open streets lovers! More info to come. First Friday. In their latest move, Denver officials are threatening to ruin the largest First Friday celebration of the year on Santa Fe Drive. Read the Denverite article to learn more. TLDR; the event is so popular there isn’t enough space. Instead of closing more streets, the City wants to move the event to a different day or move it to alleyways instead of in the street. Our City leaders can’t even close a street for one day to accommodate one of the most popular events of the year. It’s baffling. Larimer St. The 2900 block of Larimer has been car-free for the last 5 years. This month it was reopened to car traffic, with no prior notice. We were under the impression that the closure was permanent and would even expand in the future. This closure served as a traffic filter that reduced the volume of cars on the road. It made Larimer a safe cross-town route that many people relied on. Suddenly it reverted to a high volume street again, creating a dangerous situation for those rolling on the road. It was also a great gathering place.

I just added a new page to GoBikeCamping. It's a list of bicycle orgs. You can filter between social groups and advocacy groups. Hopefully this resource will help people find ways to get involved locally.

We are now accepting campsite submissions for Canada! Lot's of people have asked for this and it is finally here. I haven't added any yet. Who wants to submit the first one?

🗣️ Rally tomorrow at Noon to save car-free Larimer!

We just found out today that it is going to be reopened to cars on Monday. We’d been lead to believe that we were on track for a permanent closure of that block and more improvements to come further down the street.
