Thought I’d do a little intro for new folks on bsky! I’m Spencer, an Australian visual #artist working with abstraction and colour. I work in various mediums, including #painting, #drawing, #sculpture, #mural, and #video. Here’s a recent pic in the studio with my assistant, Bertie the chihuahua. 🐕
I am thrilled that my painting 'Skyscraper Dreams’ has been selected as a finalist in the 2025 Flanagan Art Prize.

In this work I examine the shifting presence of light within the city—how the afternoon sun, reflected off high-rise buildings, disrupts the rigid geometry of the built environment.

Test Patterns No 14-17. Part of an ongoing series of experiments in colour made from excess paint colours. Using a simple grid formation reminiscent of weaving test swatches or television test patterns I explore unexpected colour combinations investigating the way adjacent colours affect one another

Curious if any other #artists out there are using AI tools to assist their practice? I've found ChatGPT a game changer for aiding my writing and applications. Midjourney has also been fantastic for visualising rough concepts for public art proposals as well. Curious how others are using these tools?

Another new drawing. Lately, I’ve been enjoying the contrast between geometric forms and the more fluid quality of watercolour. Through these works, I’m exploring the tension between the rigid structures of the urban environment and the softness of nature. #art #drawing #abstraction #non-objective
