Every time I see an open call for an exhibition that says "any medium" I have the urge to test exactly how far you could push that...just keep turning up with increasingly unhinged artworks.

Is there any fediverse software to create groups that are findable for anyone, but can only be read by members? I have a bunch of use cases where I'd like to try and offer an alternative to FB groups, which has become the staple go to solution here in Sweden even among people who intuitively […]

On the train to Sheffield. There's a bunch of teenagers heading out for a DofE expedition, they're looking out at the hills and calling the landscape "sick", which is apparently back in fashion as a compliment. This is very wholesome.

Me: think I'll have a break from organising exhibitions next year, just focus on making work

Also me: *has already agreed to put on two exhibitions next summer*

Because my partner has never seen it, we have decided to watch The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Pray for us. The whole trilogy is barely held together by the efforts of four queer men. I will also give points for DRAGON, and (some) dwarf singing. Everything else...well..

Love to see this in my town! At Bele Brownies (they also make excellent cakes).

[Police]

Going into Manchester to try to buy morris dancing kit and being greeted by armed police at Piccadilly Station is a top tier English experience.

I do *try* not to be overly cynical about art things that people seem to enjoy, but you know all art experiences can be "immersive art experiences" if you just sit and look at the thing for a few minutes.

Fabulous folk session at the Pride of the Peaks, New Mills last night! There were actually lots more musicians than you can see in this photo, and really wonderful playing and singing. Will definitely be going again!

8 years ago/1 day ago.

Planned a walking route yesterday that I hadn't realised took us through part of the route we used for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions with the school I used to work in. This place used to feel like it was out in the middle of nowhere and now I can walk there from home!

One of my favourite dances - Twiglet (now much less likely to completely knacker me out since I changed the position I dance in 😂) - performed at Wickham Festival by Powderkegs.

Just me performing at the same event as Richard Thompson...no big deal...

Had a fabulous few days dancing with Powderkegs at Wickham Festival. It was very hot, and I am very tired, but it was a lot of fun - especially getting to dance with sides we might not […]

Wonderful Saturday in Buxton celebrating Chapel-en-le-Frith Morris's 50th birthday at their Day(s) of dance!

Didn't manage to get any pictures of Powderkegs as I was busy dancing or drumming, but here are some of the others that we shared spots with, or caught […]

First test print of a wood engraving of a singing wren on a tree stump. Above it is a sonogram of part of its song.
The scientist in me wants to put frequency and time labels on the axes but I think I should resist.
Do I give the wren a woodland background or make it a clean, solid black?

Went to see the Ballad of Wallis Island tonight. Absolutely loved it. I was almost worried about seeing it because I love the short film it's based on so much, but it managed to keep everything that was good about that film and expand on it in a way that never felt forced.
(Trailer doesn't do it […]

A Street Fighter film with David Dastmalchian and Orville Peck feels a little bit like it's aimed straight at my brain but OK, go ahead and do that, thank you.

People keep coming up with new and exciting ways to make the process of applying for exhibitions even shitter. Just saw a call for entries where artwork has to be dropped off in person, and they're just going to display the first 100 artworks that arrive.

So, you spend your time and money […]

I don't think I've ever been on a train with a moth on it my whole life, until last night when there were THREE moths on the train and they had every intention of introducing themselves to me. But, it was the journey home from seeing Rhys Darby live, which was definitely worth almost dying of […]

Here's a few pictures of people getting stuck in […]
