We work on the dynamical modelling of speech and co-speech gestures.
A big thanks to the organisers of #PaPE2025 for putting together a great conference on the stunning island of #Mallorca @uib.cat! Within a satellite workshop on #multimodality, Lena Pagel was able to present our latest work on the role of continuous head movements in the encoding of focus structure.

We're happy to have Lyle Tadmor join our lab! In her PhD work, Lyle investigates #articulatory and #respiratory coordination, to gain insight into #aging and #Parkinson's Disease. She is supervised by Michael Barbe (@uniklinikkoeln.bsky.social, neurology) and Doris Mücke (@unicologne.bsky.social).

Welcome to the lab, Erik Morris! Supervised by Doris Mücke in Cologne (@unicologne.bsky.social) and Ioana Chitoran and Hi-Yon Yoo in Paris (@upcite.bsky.social), Erik is working on #dialect exposure and speaker variability in L2 acquisition, investigating segmental and prosodic features of #Greek.

Recently, Justine Mertz presented her work on sign language kinematics at #TISLR15 in Addis-Abeba, Ethiopia. She even won the Early Career Researcher (ECR) award from the Sign Language Linguistics Society #SLLS! 🥳

Yesterday, Justine Mertz was invited to present her work on sign language coarticulation in the Phonology Colloquium at Goethe Universität Frankfurt. She was super excited to present the new results obtained with Lena Pagel, Doris Mücke and Giusy Turco, and they shared her enthusiasm! 🤗
