This is the rigging on that animation. All done in after effects using Duik and some expression animation (sin waves, delays, yadda yadda). It was a lot of fun to set up and see come to life. I like the slight stretch in her back arm, as well as the offset timing of the Glave.

Saturn fanart c.2019 - Hotaru is hands down my favorite scout and every episode she’s in is a million times better than any episodes she’s not.

Here’s a smattering of fanart from over the years.

c.2017 - if I go way back before the pendulum swung towards illustration, I was exclusively an animator. This loop was hand-drawn in flash and a chance to play with varying types of wind force. It’s also the first Introduction of my OC from my personal project CYCLE (still in development)

Sailor Saturn + Eva Unit 01, c.2021 -
A year after my first crossover fanart illustration, I made this redraw. I love the subtle shapes in her face, and these may be my favorite hands I’ve ever drawn.

Sailor Saturn 🤝 Eva Unit 01, c.2020 - Saturn is easily my favorite Sailor Scout, empathy is her strength, and her power is unmatched. I see parallels between that and the intense love from mother Eva herself. They’re also both world-ending destructive forces and make purple look hella cool.

c.2021 - When I light my illustrations, I see a single human source of light. A synthetic bright light of day into a dark night. It can’t cut through the space more than what it sees. Here I imagined the lights of a car sweeping across the subject, before shrouding them again in darkness.

c. 2020 - this was a breakthrough piece for me. What began as a hand study, developed into an exploration of subtractive additions. The paradox that by casting shape into darkness, the more our mind engages with the work. A viewers experience is imagining what lies in shadow.

Vector Illo. 2019 - I’d gotten much more comfortable at this point free-handing in Illustrator from much rougher sketches. The goal then, and in some ways still today, was to break the form down to pleasing simple shapes that felt organic. Challenging the rigid mathematics of the medium.

Learning how to post over here, just finished up this illustration. I love the idea of an overweight modular tv like way back in the day.
