It's long been the assumption that whatever the voice on the phone did for Spamton, it was responsible for his rise to fame. But what Tenna says in the Sword Route seems to imply that he still needed help from Tenna to become a real celebrity.

It's really interesting to me how from our perspective, these seem like Tenna quoting Spamton, since we meet the latter first. But it's far more likely that it's the other way around. Spamton is a scammer and a copycat after all. All he does is steal from others.

I've seen a couple people point out that the little blue Tenna here could be covering up where Spamton was in the intro. I'm tentative on if this is really the case, but if so then I think the imagery of replacing him with a mini Tenna could be referencing how their dynamic worked.

We know Spamton wore an outfit a lot like Tenna's during his big shot era. The red suit+yellow tie combo is a unique look, one I can't imagine being a coincidence they both use, it seems very intentional that they share it, like this was part of their shared image.

If you're not familiar with ventriloquism, it's a sort of stage act where a person makes their voice sound like its coming from somewhere else, usually from a puppet. A lot of these puppets are made to look like miniature versions of the actor. Spamton already looks a lot like a typical dummy.
