When their classes have joint training, aoyama can see the longing in izukus eyes, sees the tight smile as he gives advice to a student who’s struggling with their quirk. So when Aoyama gets word of Bakugo’s secret project, he’s all in.

Aoyama decides to become a teacher too, if only to keep more of an eye on izuku. They share lunches, Aoyama always bringing some fancy cheese for izuku to try. Izuku shares lesson plans and outlines specific exercises for Aoyamas students to try.

Maybe Aoyama loses his quirk too, now they’re both re-quirkless. Aoyama feels slight relief, but it’s overwhelmed from the sadness he feels for izuku. He sees how izuku puts on a brave face around everyone else, watches him survive but not live

They take care of each other is small ways. Izuku always carrying antacid tablets, Aoyama always having arthritis cream. Aoyama shows izuku the joys of self care, mud masks on as Izuku shows him his favorite all might movies.

Aoyamas the only one who truly understands izukus situation of going from quirkless to getting a quirk from someone else and dealing with the repercussions of having a quirk that your body can’t withstand.

It’s near midnight when they resume the documentary, sitting closer than before, knees and shoulders brushing with every shift. They definitely have a lot of unresolved things they need to talk about, but that can wait until later. For right now, they can just be them.
