Tonight, we celebrate 'Yaldā'—the longest, darkest night of the year, the winter solstice ('Yaldā' in Persian). Shab-e Yaldā (شب یلدا) or Shab-e Chelleh (شب چلّه) falls on the 20th or 21st of December, or the end of Azar, the 9th month in the Iranian calendar.
