We also recognize that his work is unfinished and recommit ourselves to championing equity, justice, and respect for all.

Today, I hosted my first pre-stated press conference, where I was proud to be joined by my newly announced Leadership Team!

We are doing everything we can to secure the immediate release of our @council.nyc.gov employee, who was detained today by federal immigration officials at a routine appointment, despite following the rules. We demand his return.

So immensely grateful for my family, colleagues, and friends — and to be your @council.nyc.gov Speaker.

I’m deeply humbled that my colleagues have elected me as Speaker of the @council.nyc.gov.

I will work tirelessly to be a Speaker for each of them, and for everyone we represent across our great city.
