All the cool horror elements wasted for this every time.

If you see this, post an Image cover you love. That's right, Image published Hong Kong comics for a hot second, and it was glorious.

VANQUISH. The story knows exactly what it is: a c-tier action movie that somehow got s-tier budgeting for sfx. You're in a power suit, there's bullet time, you can shoot things in 360°, and you have rockets in your feet to power slide everywhere (yep you can even drift around corners).

It's great.

Goodbye, Pepper. You were loved, and the best little gremlin.

If anyone out there gets a pre-release Squall, SeeD Mercenary, and has no attachment to it, I will VERY happily pay money to take it off your hands... I'm worried I'm not gonna be able to get my hands on this one, and this is a must for my collection.

Three years ago today I embraced myself for who I am and started HRT. I feel more myself than ever in my life, and I wouldn't go back for a second. Happy #TransDayOfVisibility #TDOV to all my trans siblings.

12) Chrono Cross. Possibly one of the best RPGs of all time. It has unbelievable replay value, a cast of nothing but Awesome Dudes, one of the best soundtracks of all time, and it's about the aftereffects of causality. What's not to like.

11) Radiant Silvergun. Am I good at it? No. In fact I play with infinite lives on most times. But it's an absolutely stunning game with a fantastic soundtrack, and the one shmup I play.

My look for a punk show last week. The show was great, and I wore my own hair for once.

10) Gravity Rush. I played the Vita version to death, it was such a fun and awesome experience. The controls and camera were a bit janky, sure, but being able to control gravity and fly around everywhere was just way too fun. I really hope Sony gives Kat another shot.

I have limited range, but I do my best with it.

9) Returnal. This game alone was almost worth the price of admission for a PS5. I've rarely seen a game interweave story and gameplay so seamlessly with such a creative interpretation of the story's themes to boot. Just keep moving.

8) Onimusha 2. While the first Onimusha game is a classic, and the third guest stars Jean Reno for reasons, 2 is the closest to my heart. It has a wonderful cast, and puts an intriguing bright spin on survival horror aesthetics. Plus it has an homage to Yusaku Matsuda.

7) Deja Vu. I learned much later that this was a port, but I love it all the same. Your textbook hardboiled detective story played out through an amnesia mystery. Plenty of jank, but that's part of what makes it so charming.

6) Contra. I've played this game so many times with my cousin I've lost count. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I played the version with an actual story, and not the American release which just congratulates you for winning lol. An all-time classic action platformer.

5) Parasite Eve. What an oddball RPG? Action? Survival horror? All of the above? A completely over-the-top story, rocket speed pacing, a dynamite Yoko Shimomoura soundtrack, and an awesome take on active action RPGs. Plus, it's a Christmas game!

4) Amnesia Rebirth. While I love me horror games, this one was a pleasant surprise. The warning at the beginning of the game about being experienced not beaten really helped me immerse myself in the world. It's an unforgettable ride.

Blasphemous, possibly one of my all-time favorites. The tortured yet beautiful ambiance, the rich storytelling both direct and indirect through items, a minimalist gameplay approach makes it a modern classic. I won't shut up about this one. For twisted are, were, and will be the paths of The Miracle

Vanquish, an utterly unhinged 3rd person shooter. It's so over the top and unapologetic about being a meathead shooter that it's utterly charming. Plus you have rockets in your boots and knees and can power slide everywhere, what's not to love?
