I make my own clothes and love to see what others are making. Also politics, dogs, food, science. Basically a Renaissance woman.
<inside head while watching just about anything on TV> what the hell is going on with that suit?

The worse things get in the news, the better my garden looks.

Thanks for pointing me to this. Time to plan a DC visit.

Agree that it's apples and oranges. If you love to sew, sew what excites you! But I can definitely see why many more people create quilts than garments.

This was my experience. I began quilting 20 or so years ago. I eventually bored of it and my interest in garment sewing grew; garment sewing is more complex, less satisfying for beginners, and generally more expensive. None of the quilters I used to hang out with moved into garment making.

It has been a hell of a day, including the gutting of a CDC program for sickle cell disease, which has been my life's work for almost 20 years. Sen. Booker's actions are the only thing saving the day for me, and more importantly trying to save lives. Thank you so much @booker.senate.gov

I converted to mostly using clips recently. Much less poking myself (and leaving blood stains on my work) and accidentally stepping on pins, and less fabric distortion and pinholes. win/win.

A great find. Totally worth taking it to a repair shop, I think. My first machine was also an old used Bernina and it also seized after about a month - the repair bill was minimal and I still have and use the machine 25 years later!

So true. I tell people who want me to "whip something up" for them that I can point them to lots of learning resources - no takers so far.

Is applying for a job an act of desperation? Networking? Offering a business card? That's just silly. I recently updated my profile to be OtW and have gotten some great connections.

Spent the day cutting muslin/toile pattern pieces for the Jasika blazer. It's so unexciting to make a muslin! But so worth it for the final fit.
