Geographer blending counter-forensics, spatiotemporal analysis, and biometeorology to study how border ‘security’ and extreme environments shape mortality in the world’s borderlands

Anyone who looks at U.S. imperial, border, and immigration policy over the years--and the orgy of surveillance and militarized violence being unleashed now--and says: "we need better training" isn't on the path to more critical views but to falling off a moral cliff.

What Jamelle misses is that the "training" counterinsurgency technique was developed by the punishment bureaucracy propagandists precisely because it sounds nice while being profitable, distracts from structural issues, and de-radicalizes the demands of well-meaning liberals.

Jamelle's statement about Chris Murphy illustrating his point is bewildering. Murphy has been one of the most unhinged proponents of anti-immigrant rhetoric and building the infrastructure of mass lawless cruelty, and his recent statements don't reflect a person seriously and newly enlightened.
