The hurdles come when you want to start switching away from Ubuntu to something like Arch but I'd say take one step at a time.

Other than that, Ubuntu has a very friendly user interface, you might have to tinker around a bit if you want to run apps that aren't built for Linux (mostly games) but other than that there aren't any massive hurdles.

I'd say using the command line takes some getting used to, but you'll find that once you've memorised a few important commands your overall efficiency and speed in doing things increases massively in the long run.

Lina Khan did a damn good job, but we can't be having the FTC looking out solely for consumers now can we!

I'd recommend Ubuntu if you're starting out and want to make the switch - got it on my laptop and haven't looked back since.
