No, because the parasociality also commonly causes fans to put you on a pedestal even if you're not trying to place yourself in that position.

Anyway, that's tangential to the point. Regardless of the reasons, a lotta people just don't wanna have that relationship with their followers.

That's fine to bring up as an option, but it's not a catch-all solution here. Most people aren't going to be interested in that, due to both wanting to play with existing friends rather than making new ones and not wanting to deal with the inherent power imbalance of parasocial relationships.

Yeah, followers can turn into friends if you actually get to know them, but I'm not quite sure what your point in saying that is?

As I understand, it's something like, "If you have trouble scheduling stuff with some of your friends, you should just make more of them," but feel free to clarify.

Not the same thing. A lot of the fun of these sorts of multiplayer games is playing them with your friends. Playing 'em with random people online can be fun too, ofc, but that's a totally different experience.

Feel this, I got a red-eye that arrives at 5 am Thursday. Can't beat those prices but it's gonna hurt

Yeah as a fighting game player I look at tournaments more as social events than as tests of skill for this reason. Like I do want to do well, but I try to focus on just hanging with people who share my hobby so there's no pressure

Oh true I should have remembered those Yankee uniform edits you did lmao

Wait is MLB supposed to be MLP or are you just a fan of baseball
February 8, 2025 at 7:45 PM
Not really? Just because a piece of media breaks the 4th wall does not mean it automatically canonizes the entirety of the real world. Like, OneShot; the player is very explicitly canon to the game but NightMargin and the people that helped them test it are definitely not.

Down to test!

To be clear: if you want them to ban AI outright, even in cases where it was used artistically and transformatively, that's a totally valid position. But that's part of a different and more nuanced conversation than saying that Itch deserved this takedown because they supposedly love AI.
December 13, 2024 at 8:12 PM
Please stop jumping to conclusions like this. We can't have a productive conversation if you immediately assume the absolute worst of me.

Anyway, I never said Itch didn't allow AI at all, just that they're not a 'big supporter' of it. They explicitly disallow AI slop.

Hey... your anger is 100% valid, but it's pretty misplaced here. Itch has rather lax moderation in general, them being lighter on AI stuff than they should be is not the same as them being a "big supporter" of it.

Misinformedly dunking on them in every reply like this isn't helpful to our cause.

No, that's not the only hope. Now's the time to build grassroots communities and work together with the people around you; the government can't be trusted, so we need to build other structures of power.
