A federal court recently blocked IMLS's defunding while they continue to look over the case to save the only federal funding for libraries. This block is only temporary and more work needs to be done to ensure that libraries will be able to receive the funding they need.

Happy #internationalworkersday! Libraries get their own national worker's day on April 8th, but May Day is still a good time to think about how unions benefit all workers!

Go the extra mile with your support for #libraries and library workers and buy this book directly from the ALA store!

Some good news for once! Gov. Kelly Armstrong vetoed SB 2307.
This proves that supporting libraries WORKS! As challenges and attacks on libraries continue, it's important to continue to keep this pressure on.

Book banning in Florida is continuing to get worse, and students in Florida schools will endure further educational neglect and infringement on their right to read freely.

What will be left for Florida students when almost any book can be removed with just a simple request from a parent?

Censorship at the hands of the state is a violation of free speech. All North Dakota residents need to call Gov. Armstrong and tell him to oppose SB 2307.

With the defunding of IMLS, the removal of staff, and the recent layoffs of library staff at the state level as a result, the state of our libraries' longevity remains a question. Answer that question with action.

The executive order on Friday gutted funding for IMLS, the only source for federal funding for libraries and museums.

As devistating as this is, we have to remain vigilant and fight back however we can.

Call your representatives and follow the QR codes below.

"By replacing independent, nonpartisan leadership with a politically aligned appointee, this administration is attempting to undermine the integrity of our nation’s historical record and the mechanisms that ensure government accountability."

School information specialists (non-librarians) have been directed to review books for indications of what an executive order called “gender ideology” or “discriminatory equity ideology.”

While parents of the students fight for their freedoms abroad, those freedoms are being eroded at home.

IMLS is responsible for SO many library and museum services and programs that would simply evaporate.

We got lucky last administration when Trump's last attempt to remove IMLS was unsuccessful. We need more than luck to make sure it doesn't happen this time.

SAVE GUHSD LIBRARIES!

GUHSD (San Diego) has recently voted to layoff dozens of staff, including 9 librarians.

California's school libraries are already the worst-ranked in the entire country. We cannot afford to lose any more librarians in our schools.
