I'm sure it was! 💚 I biked across Vermont when I was a teenager and stayed at a friend's farm for a few weeks and getting to revisit there through someone else's writing sounds a treat.

Lolly Willowes at a 100! Count me in! There are so many I want to read. The latest Eileen Chang, more Gallant and Carrington and Blackwood, A Game of Hide and Seek by Taylor, Alice James by Jean Strouse, The Corner That Held Them, The Farm in the Green Mountains by Zuckmayer

I'd be interested both. I want to read more NYRBs (so pleasing how many I have read from the last two years of group reads 💛) and I've been meaning to read more of Sarton for ages. Now to figure out where I last placed Journal of Solitude

To you as well, David! I hope the water clears from the roads quickly. Snow is predicted here for Sunday and I'm not sure I'm ready yet. 😅❄️ but if anything, the first snowfall is always pretty.

So glad! It took me awhile to find a used copy a year or so ago. Totally time for a reprint!

I am sure! The few times I've visited the UK, I've noticed the damp cold. It can seep so amazingly deep into the bones. Keeping one's ankles toasty is a must!

I read all of the Brontës' works in college but that was a long time ago. I have reread Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and Villette. I think Villette is my favorite by Charlotte. I definitely want to reread all of Anne's again.
