An Herbal Recipe to See Faeries From a sixteenth-century herbal: Take a pint of salad oil and put it into a glass vial that has been washed with rose water and marigold water. (The flower should be gathered while facing east.) Add to it the buds of hollyhock, the flowers of marigold, the flowers or tops of wild thyme, and the buds of young hazel. (The wild thyme should be gathered from the side of a hill where faeries are known to be.) Take the grass from a faerie hill, and add it to the oil in the glass vial. Let the mixture settle for three days in the sun, and then keep if for your own use. How is it to be used? The manuscript does not say.
