Yep all three regions had their own variants of the artwork, with accurate regional Mega-Drive/Genesis designs and Sonic 3&K carts! They’re all cool but I *really* want the Japan one.

I can't imagine I would've said this 5 years ago, but I kinda hope the next big Sonic game has some new humans. I feel like Sonic Team has finally figured out that unique style and flair that makes Ohshima's human designs so distinct and special. Really make them pop!

Has anyone else picked up on how Chaotix's Bonus theme is pretty much a deluxe callback to CD's Special Stage theme? Also we should talk more about Chaotix's soundtrack in general because DAMN that shit is fire.

This is one of my favourite pieces of Sonic merch ever, and such a perfect description. They even printed the patches on recycled paper for thematic consistency. They really knew exactly who this character was from day one <3

I've been reading the liner notes of various Sonic albums lately. Cosmic Eternity is said to be the very first track that was approved of for Sonic CD, after a series of rejected demos. I'm sure they're not amazing, but I'd kinda still like to hear Hataya's lost songs lol.

Incidentally, the occassional pieces of artwork that would sort of fuse Ohshima's and Greg Martin's Sonic designs together were kind of goated. Perhaps the most "90's" the character has ever looked.

I also find the little characterisation differences super interesting. Modern Sonic tends to have this big toothy grin most of the time, which Classic Sonic virtually never had. It definitely screams "ATTITUDE", while the original Sonic was more passive.
