I'm still nostalgic for Sunday mornings with the twin tub. First the sheets, then the other whites, then the light colours, and finally the dark colours. All in the same water. And the rubber web thing for the spinner that we kept nicking to play spiderman.

I agree, looks like a solder/flux problem. All the joints in the photo are odd - either poor penetration of the through-hole or weird blobbing. I went back to leaded for exactly this problem!
Doesn't explain the round vs square pad thing, but that's maybe just a coincidence.

Yeah, already had this happen to me a few years ago. Ended up using the track from a new one to replace the bad one in the old pot. Some _minor_ adjustment was required, but it's still going strong...
