Mid-sixties, she/her, will follow any decent horse trainer.
I own this one. It has an interesting ending.

Animals and kids seem to time their emergencies for the holiday season, when it’s hard to find care. Best of luck to you!

Read that one repeatedly to my young son, who now has a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.

I’ve always half believed that Trump did the traditional sell your soul to the devil bit, and in return the devil is protecting him and placing him where he can do the most damage.

I’m a sixty-something American and had never heard this version until your post last night. Thank you!

They say they want higher birth rates at the same time that health care is becoming unaffordable for many people. And then they say young people are selfish for not having kids.

I see the racism and the grievances, but I also know people who really, truly, absolutely do not want to know what’s going on. Even as prices keep going up, they have their eyes closed and their hands over their ears.

Read this yesterday. It’s a great piece! Love the art!

If the only thing you have to be proud of in your life is who your ancestors were, you’re a sad human.

I’m completely confused. Did we ever own oil fields or land in Venezuela? From the old Banana Republic days perhaps?

Had one coming to our place in California from Reno, a few years ago. It did eventually arrive but it took long enough that we decided they were transporting it by mule train.

Same. At some point I will no longer be able to read my beloved old paperbacks, but I can easily change the font size on my Kindle.

I always thought it was pronounced too-lee? Been saying it wrong for years, apparently.

When I was young I commuted by motorcycle for a while and had to take a class for the license. It really emphasizes awareness of your surroundings and the importance of improving your visibility to other drivers. It’s a worthwhile class for any driver, in my opinion.

Nevada is a large state physically, so southern Nevada is southwest but the northern half, north of Reno, not really. They’re different in climate and in culture.

My friend’s father was saved by the Black soldiers who were cleaning up the battlefield. They found him severely wounded and got him to medical care. He recovered and lived into his eighties. Many stories like this, I’m sure.

If they only had a California to Florida.

Am I reading this wrong? Mom is surprised that the kids have to speak Russian in order to attend public school in Russia?

I carry a short length of soft rope tied to the pommel of my saddle. I can use the end as a dressage whip, to reach back and tickle my guy forward a bit. I have used it to tie a sweatshirt onto my saddle or around my waist. It can also be used as a short lead rope if necessary.

I’m pretty sure he knew there were non-Christians in the world. He’d just made an assumption, and was quite embarrassed about it. I haven’t seen him since he’s all grown up now and moved on with his life, but he was always a good guy.

I was discussing the book “Ben Hur” with a 12 year old who had just finished it. His question was “What church do you go to?” and I had to admit that I generally didn’t attend church. Poor guy was quite embarrassed to have forgotten that some people don’t go to church and not everyone is Christian.

I live in a rural area with a good amount of petty theft. If you’re low income, having your car broken into or tools stolen is major. People would like it to be stopped, and government seems unable to do anything. At least locally, I think this is some of what’s driving the authoritarianism.

That you pay someone else to birth and raise, because actual parenting is beneath you.

This. My parents didn’t have much money and my father hunted, not for sport but for food. I ate a lot of game as a child.

It’s a crummy song, but the line “love was meant for beauty queens” felt very accurate during the seventies. There was no body acceptance philosophy then.
